Directed by Alan Yang, the video is a parody of the 90’s sitcom Friends with an all-black cast of Jerrod Carmichael (Ross), Issa Rae (Rachael), Tiffany Haddish (Phoebe), Tessa Thompson (Monica), Lakeith Stanfield (Chandler), Lil Rel Howery (Joey) and Hannibal Buress as himself.  Why not?

Every Sample on JAY-Z’s 4:44

JAY-Z’s  13th solo album ‘4:44’ is here and fans have already started to dig into it to identify some of the most prominent samples used by the project’s sole producer No I.D. Genius rounded up every sample you need to know, from Nina Simone’s 1966 track “Four Women” on “The Story of O.J.” to Sister Nancy’s dancehall classic “Bam Bam” on “Bam” featuring Damian Marley and Donny Hathaway’s “Some Day We’ll All Be Free” on “Legacy.”

The Story of O.J.

JAY-Z has let loose once a Tidal exclusive for everyone to enjoy.  Check out the video below.

“‘The Story of OJ’ is really a song about we as a culture, having a plan, how we’re gonna push this forward,” JAY-Z says of the song during his track-by-track break down of the album. “We all make money, and then we all lose money, as artists especially. But how, when you have some type of success, to transform that into something bigger.”

The video is a  animated clip revolving around the character of Jaybo (a flip on “Sambo” from the racist children’s book The Story of Little Black Sambo from the 20th century) as he navigates through a landscape of cotton fields, slave ships, burning crosses, and lynchings.

JAY Z Talks Police Brutality in “Spiritual”

All this killing needs to stop.  Getting sick and tired of hearing another black man shot down behind a police mans gun.  JAY is tired of seeing and hearing also.  Recorded a year ago, “Spiritual” was originally going to be released when Mike Brown died, but Hov never finished it , I guess  he knew that “this issue will always be relevant.”   Check out JAY’s statement below and listen to “Spiritual” below.
