With the hard drums and booming baselines from producer Mike Will Made it, Lecrae raps about his beginnings and humble roots on “Blessings”. The song is a reminder to Lecrae that he never took anything for granted and how it has shaped him to the man he is today.
President Obama handed out 21 Medals of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, for the very last time. Personally selected by Obama himself, the medals are presented to individuals who have contributed to “the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.” Among the recipients to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom was none other than the G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan. Before giving the award to Jordan, President Barack Obama shared a few words, made jokes about the “Crying Jordan” meme, and once again reminded us why he will be missed when he leaves the White House.
Joining Jordan among the field of sports were Vin Scully and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The 2016 recipients also included Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert De Niro, Bill and Melinda Gates, Bruce Springsteen, Lorne Michaels, and more.

Talking about the short film’s inspiration, Common tells Essence
“When I wrote the song, I was thinking about when you really love a person. I thought about when I love a woman and I can enjoy her, but at the same time she can enjoy me and we can have fun and laugh. But then there’s also a real bond that’s there that has spirituality, growth, support and integrity connected in it. We’re willing to make mistakes, but we’re there for each other; that’s true love.
“So the theme, Love Star, came up just because I thought it was a cool nickname to call somebody that you’re close to. I wanted to show that we revere and hold you high, Black woman. We love you and care for you and honor you.”
Check out Common’s documentary below and tell us what you guys think in the comments.
The reason of the two parts is side A is made with a “sweeter” production, and side B with the same lyrics, but the production gets a bit roughed up to bring out “bitter” notes. Let Stella explain:
“What does a sound taste like? Experience Bittersweet by The Roots, the first ever song you can taste. Based upon scientific research that explores the relationship between our senses, one side has been written to bring out the sweeter flavors in a Stella Artois, while the other enhances the bitter notes. Can you taste the difference?”

P.S. These are great songs for a beer company.

It all started when Kobe gave a goodbye letter to the game of basketball. Since the letter Kobe’s goodbye tour is what all the fans will have to remember in his last year. In Kobe fashion, no sixth ring, but a 60-point game against the Utah Jazz to knock them out the playoffs. This time around Mamba revisits his young self in a letter via The Players Tribune.
Dear 17-year-old self,
When your Laker dream comes true tomorrow, you need to figure out a way to invest in the future of your family and friends. This sounds simple, and you may think it’s a no-brainer, but take some time to think on it further.
I said INVEST.
I did not say GIVE.
Let me explain.
Purely giving material things to your siblings and friends may appear to be the right decision. You love them, and they were always there for you growing up, so it’s only right that they should share in your success and all that comes with it. So you buy them a car, a big house, pay all of their bills. You want them to live a beautiful, comfortable life, right?
But the day will come when you realize that as much as you believed you were doing the right thing, you were actually holding them back.
You will come to understand that you were taking care of them because it made YOU feel good, it made YOU happy to see them smiling and without a care in the world — and that was extremely selfish of you. While you were feeling satisfied with yourself, you were slowly eating away at their own dreams and ambitions. You were adding material things to their lives, but subtracting the most precious gifts of all: independence and growth.
Understand that you are about to be the leader of the family, and this involves making tough choices, even if your siblings and friends do not understand them at the time.
Invest in their future, don’t just give.
Use your success, wealth and influence to put them in the best position to realize their own dreams and find their true purpose. Put them through school, set them up with job interviews and help them become leaders in their own right. Hold them to the same level of hard work and dedication that it took for you to get to where you are now, and where you will eventually go.
I’m writing you now so that you can begin this process immediately, and so that you don’t have to deal with the hurt and struggle of weaning them off of the addiction that you facilitated. That addiction only leads to anger, resentment and jealousy from everybody involved, including yourself.
As time goes on, you will see them grow independently and have their own ambitions and their own lives, and your relationship with all of them will be much better as a result.
There’s plenty more I could write to you, but at 17, I know you don’t have the attention span to sit through 2,000 words.
The next time I write to you, I may touch on the challenges of mixing blood with business. The most important advice I can give to you is to make sure your parents remain PARENTS and not managers.
Before you sign that first contract, figure out the right budget for your parents — one that will allow them to live beautifully while also growing your business and setting people up for long-term success. That way, your children’s kids and their kids will be able to invest in their own futures when the time comes.
Your life is about to change, and things are about to come at you very fast. But just let this sink in a bit when you lay down at night after another nine-hour training day.
Trust me, setting things up right from the beginning will avoid a ton of tears and heartache, some of which remains to this day.

Hello ya’ll. I was just chillin’ on the lovely Sunday evening watching Netflix and minding my own buisness. I stumbled on to this show that im currently stuck on, “Master of None” starring Aziz Ansari. While watching episode 5 “The Other Man”, Aziz is at a work party with his friend as a wing man. He gets pulled away from a lady wanting to talk to him to get away from from the guy that was talking to her. They hit it off drinking drinks and just enjoying each others company. The one thing I noticed was the music playing in the background. I think to myself, I know this song. The song happens to be “Every Little Thing I Do”, by Soul For Real. This song its day was a husge hit. I can remeber the song being played everywhere and all the time. The sample that made this song such a hit was “Outstanding” by the legendary Gap Band, they make nothing but classic in my eye but I’m getting off topic. Listening to this song takes me back to the time when this song was popular. I caught myself mouthing the words and cracking up. So for your enjoyment I will share this song with you guys. So sit back relax and go back into time.
Google has tapped ASUS for the latest edition of its easy-to-use OnHub Wi-Fi router, following up the original August release with a brand new version of the gadget. The reason for such a quick follow-up? The addition of “Wave Control.”
Users can now speed up the Wi-Fi signal to a single connected device by simply waving their hand over the top of the device. Outside of the “Wave Control” addition, the new design offers a slightly modified exterior and a “Slate Grey” paint job. Additionally, like its predecessor, the ASUS-assisted gadget is meant to be left out in the open — unlike your typical, ugly router.
I need one of thes in my house asap!!!!! This is really cool, i feel that Google has a game changer on its hands. Let us know what you guys out there think in the comment section below. Thanks
as i sit here, tears running down my face looking at a picture of my mom and i that a friend gave me. her big smile as she looks in the camera and me making some crazy face. i remember the day we took the picture. it was christmas morning at my cousins house. had no idea that it would be the last christmas i would spend with her before her stroke. time goes by and you start to realize that you won’t be able to ever bring that person back, and it breaks my heart. the world keeps spinning while you sit and try to reflect on what has happened in your life. I’m not sure if i will ever get over losing a person, but losing a mother is one of the hardest things that has ever happened to me in my life. i will leave you with something i heard from a friend years ago that turned me on to this group, N.E.R.D. (no one ever really dies).
I have this affliction and it happens every damn year. Football fever. Yep. I’m one of those guys. I’ve been enjoying my copy of Madden ( thoughts on that to come ) and my fantasy draft starts in about 36 minutes as I type this. Oh yes. I’m a geek of many trades my friends.
So in honor of the start of the new unnecessarily intense season I give you this.
Oh and go Niners.
Today is my mothers birthday. She would have been 64 yrs old. This is harder then i thought it was gonna be. No one is ever prepared for a loss, especially a loss as great as a mother. I try to keep my mind off of what happened but can’t help but to think she is gone. People say that she is in a better place, but I’m selfish and i feel the better place is here with her family. Im getting off task. Today is supposed to be a good day its her birthday. So today I will do my best to be positive but its gonna be very hard. My eyes are having a water problem and its hard to continue to write. As i leave this post just wanna say Happy Birthday Mom and I love you.
Just because its her day today going to playing one of her favorite songs from her favorite artist, James Brown “The Payback”.
It’s been 7 yrs today that my homie, best friend, road dog, brother passed away. It still feels like yesterday. Can’t believe it’s been this long. I miss you pimpin. Still find it hard to put this into words, but all i know is that i miss him alot. much love to his mom, linda i can only imagine how she feels. Love you also Linda.
What does it mean to be white? MTV’s ‘White People’ is a groundbreaking documentary on race that aims to answer that question from the viewpoint of young white people living in America today. The film follows Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and filmmaker, Jose Antonio Vargas, as he travels across the country to get this complicated conversation started. ‘White People’ asks what’s fair when it comes to affirmative action, if colorblindness is a good thing, what privilege really means, and what it’s like to become the “white minority” in your neighborhood. For more information on ‘White People,’ and to join the conversation, head to race.lookdifferent.org.
Thought this was something different that needed to watched. Made me sick back and really think about what it was to be “white”. Me being the “minority” never really thought much about the “white” person and where they came from and what it meant to be “white”. Let me know some of your thoughts.
“I don’t need no middlemen to talk to my ni**as / I understand if you don’t understand I figure my ni**a / That’s where we differ / I take what’s mine you accept what they give you / I get you / I don’t take no checks / I take my respect / Pharrell even told me ‘Go with the best bet’ / Jimmy Iovine offered the safety net / Google came around with a crazy check / I feel like YouTube is the culp-a-rit /. For the sake of this persons privacy I won’t reveal who this person is. So let me paint the picture for you. I’m minding my own business checking things on my computer and I receive a message. The message was a picture of some milk. Then the person that sent the message had the nerve to ask me can you buy this for me and mail it to me. Just so you guys know the item this person wanted me to buy them and send it through the mail was some milk. WTH. Really? Then and there I know this person has had way to much.
