After showing J Dilla some love on the the series with Bink! and Nottz, Mass Appeal returns to the regular format with the great Hi-Tek. Tek picked up three random records and began the process. The record he used to make the beat was Spirit’s Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. The sample was in my opinion was right up Hi-Tek’s alley, bass heavy with his hard drums. Check out the segment below.
First Listen of Justin Timberlake’s CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” featuring the cast of DreamWorks’ Original Motion Picture “Trolls”. I’m calling this the backyard summer bbq anthem. Your welcome guys for the party starter lol, enjoy.
So this morning I was at the barbershop for my weekly haircut. Don’t judge I just like to be fresh and have my hair a certain length. Anyway, my barber has music playing in the shop and a lot of the music is what we call old school music. So today the song that gave me an idea of what it would be like to be in a recording session for that song was “Freddie’s Dead” by Curtis Mayfield. This was one of Mayfield’s famous records. The song was featured on the “Superfly” soundtrack. Listening to this record made me think how did this session go. In my mind the musicians were all dressed up and what we call today “lit”. I can imagine the session started out as along jam session until they got to a point where they just knew that what they had was a definite hit. The instrumentation on this record is amazing. The bass, drums, flute, horns, strings, and of course curtis. I would have loved to just be in that session, man I wish I was there. Check out the song below and just vibe out.
